Ghalegaun is one of the beautiful village of Nepal. Many tourist came to visit Mustang. Mustang is famous for their gorgeous senery and view. Ghalegaun is popular scenic tourist destination with an elevation of 2,100 metres above sea level in Lamjung District. The village is situated at approximately 108 km northwest of Kathmandu and 12.5 km northeast of Pokhara, Nepal. The beautiful tourist village is surrounded by Annapurna Circuit.

Ghale Gaun is an exotic pristine village endowed with an unparallel scenic grandeur and a home to Ghales the famed Gurungs the legendary mid-hill people of western Nepal. Repository of a unique ethnic culture Ghele Gaun is a true microcosm of stunning natural beauty mixed with an unspoiled ethnic life style. This village is located the district of Lamjung, Ghale Gaun is approximately 205km north west of Kathmandu and 125 km north east of Pokhara the picturesque hill town of western Nepal. Ghale Gaun Perched atop a ridge at an altitude of 2016 meters from the sea level, Ghale Gaun is probably the only place which commands a superb breathtaking view of majestic western Himalayas including Machhapuchhre(6693m) Annapurna(8091m), Annapurna II (7939m) Annapurna IV (7525m), Lamjung Himal(6932m), Bouddha Himal(6974m), Himalchuli(6747m) and many more smaller peaks. Taking advantage of such a unique location, Ghale Gaun- a picturesque hamlet of about 95 Gurung style houses, has recently been marketed as a new destination to experience Village tourism. Accordingly quite a number of houses have been prepared for domestic and international visitors with comfortable basic amenities. Besides the scenic extravaganza of the peaks, the warm and sincere hospitality of the Gurung people is also bound to overwhelm the visitors. Traditional customs are still followed during births, deaths, marriages and at other important times in a person’s life. Age-old cultural dances like the Jhyaure, Serka, Dohori, Ghantu, Ghyabring, Krishna Charitra and Jhakri are performed on various occasions accompanied by different musical instruments with the dancers in traditional dress. Visitors to Ghale Gaun-Ghanpokhara are welcomed with offering of garlands and tika while music and dances are performed and traditional farewell songs are sung when guests depart. Nepali New Year and Buddha Jayanti are celebrated with traditional dance called Ghatu

Honey hunting

Honey hunting is also very famous their. They do honey hunting as a occupation. They climb on the big rock and put out honey from wild bee.
Honey hunting is traditional skill used by tribes to collect honey from wild bees in the Himalayan foothills. Tribal elders hang by the cliff with the help of locally made rope and ladder to collect honey of the world’s largest honeybees. Climbing through the thick smoke used to disperse the bees, honey hunter poke the hive with one stick and collects the chunk in the basket he is balancing with another stick. The hunting needs great courage and balance to work while dangled hundreds of feet above the ground. With the world knowing the benefits of wild honey and its medicinal value, excessive honey hunting is done with modern technics (trafficking) putting the tribal way of life at risk. Native wild bees have also been victim of global warming and other environmental issues. This honey hunting program is lunched to preserve the tribal ways of life and keep the tradition with the help of sustainable tourism.
